Suzuki Family Camp at Blue Lake

I'm back home from a fun filled week with Miss P at Suzuki Family Camp at Blue Lake.It was an intense week of cello and music and no internet or phones. Here's the breakdown in numbers.Miss P participated in:2 four day music camp sessions that included30 hours of cello class,Two cello play-ins,Two fiddle concerts,One chamber recital, andTwo end of session concerts.

We also enjoyed:
Two faculty concerts,Three camp fires with s'mores,
Riding bikes around the camp,
Dropping ants into antlion traps
Catching tadpoles and dragonflies,
Creative time in the Art Barn,

Swimming in the camp pool,Playing with friends made previous years at camp,Catching minnows at Duck  Lake, and

Two trips to Pekadill's for ice cream.
Luckily the storm that brought tornadoes to other parts of Michigan this week missed Blue Lake.
Miss P is excited to practice this summer and has a list of new pieces that she will be working toward. We are eager to return next year.

A Great Ride

Thursday evening we watched M's last show with the Chelsea House Orchestra. There were lots of fabulous shows, festivals, and fun times in the five years we were associated with the group. This years graduates were making the most of their last show.It was a real crowd pleaser. Thanks to all involved with the group and especially Fritz.  It was a great ride!

Thank You

Sara, Ian, Lisa, Steve, Jed, Nathan, and Rick, I am SO glad that you live, play music and teach in our hometown. You all do great things to make our community a wonderful and musical place to live.  You inspire all of us. You provide impressive music events which are gifts for all.  You teach and make it possible for us to have music events by people of all ages.  You help the young build skill and confidence.  And you encourage them to come together in diverse groups to make music and new friends. We appreciate you.  You are all shining jewels in Chelsea's crown.  Thank you.

Brighter Days

We have been busy around here lately. Last night P's preschool performed the 3 Piggy Opera. Oh, my what a sweet performance that was!M was up in the wee hours of the morning to head out to Detroit. He anda few others from the House Orchestra were live on the radio (WJR) from6 to 7 this morning. I, however, slept right through it. I am hoping WJR will have it available on their website. Tonight he and a few friends will be performing at the local pizza place.   This morning I went went bowling with P's preschool class. I love how preschoolers are not worried about form. They are happy just to get the ball to go the length of the lane!We have enjoyed two beautiful days of sunshine and blue skies. How wonderful it is to be outside without the full winter armor.I hope you are enjoying some brighter days too.Ah, spring is in the air.
