Wordless Wednesday - The Snowy Day
A Sunny Day
We finally had a sunny day! It started off sunny and stayed sunny all day.The chickens even ventured out. They usually just stay in the barn when there is snow on the ground.
They even came over to visit on the front porch.
I hope they enjoyed their day out because we are supposed to get six inches of fresh snow tomorrow night.
SNOW!
We finally had a little more snow!
Outside
Since it's not so bitter cold this winter I'm trying to get out more. This weekend we walked up to the park and saw a rafter of turkeys. (Did you know that was the collective name for a group of turkeys?)
It was really snowy while we were out. My glasses were covered and I had to take them off and put them in my pocket for the walk home. It was blizzardy - but just while we were walking home.
Today it was warmish and sunny. The fresh air felt good.
I would probably get more exercise if I left my camera at home but taking the camera along makes it more fun! Also, it has been so warm lately that I've started pondering what new things I want to plant in the garden this year. My neighbor had some really good cucumbers last year that I'd like to try.Are you planning your garden yet? Are you going to try to grow something different or new to you?
Snow
We finally had a little snow.
It wasn't much good for snowballs or snowmen.
But it seems to have been good to eat.
Thoughtful Sunday
"Front yards are boring.Backyards tell stories.""Backyards," Popcorn, James Stevenson, 1998.
Crafturday
We had more snow. I went out long enough to take a few pictures and spent the day in the sewing room.It was a real Crafturday. Four people sewing!! D worked on some button fly jeans from the thrift store; he removed the buttons and inserted a zipper. His girlfriend finished making a skirt. P worked on her valentines and I did some custom quilting. It is a good thing I have multiple machines!
A Breath of Fresh Air and Sunshine
We had a welcome bit of sunshine yesterday afternoon and tore ourselves away from our sedentary, indoor activities to go out for a bit of fresh air.I love that these oak trees have gotten to be so big. We planted them as little sapling twigs when we moved here more than twenty years ago. They are finally starting to look like a little oak grove, much different than the corn field that used to be here.
We had a roaring good time on our little walk.
Walking in a Winter Wonderland
Yesterday before dinner we decided to venture over into the park across the road. B had been over there early in the morning and seen the sun sparkling on the icy branches. He said he thought there were winter fairies over there. We went just before sunset and saw a few sparkly branches and lots of interesting snowy places but no fairies. The snow covered blueberry bushes looked like the kind of places fairies would like. They must have already gone in for the night to get out of the bitter cold wind.
Still, it was a lovely walk.
There were even pink clouds.
It was nice to have an unexpected "day off".
Gratitude
I am grateful for the big fluffy snowflakes of our first snowfall of the season.
Snow Day
We are having a snow day today! It is heavy wet snow- good for snowmen but heavy to shovel. I am sure I could use the exercise. For now, we are having fun inside.
I just love the Fisher Price stuff.
Oh, and that girl in green reminds me, Happy Bench Monday!
That's all I have time for today. I must go knit.Have a great day!
Snow Day!
We FINALLY had some fresh snow! There was even enough for schools to be canceled yesterday. Yay! We knew there would be no school before we went to bed so we slept in and then played. P and I made snow angels and lots of mitten shaped holes in the snow. She wanted to take a walk but high stepping in the snow was harder than she thought it would be. We did explore the garden space. Look at those old sunflowers.

I finished another project yesterday too. P chose a beautiful rhinestone jewel for the front of the doll sweater.
There is a larger rhinestone button on the back. She thinks it is very beautiful.
Now, I think I may be ready for some Olympic knitting. We cast on tomorrow night.
